12/03/2020

Niki Tuuli completes three days of work at the Andalusian track to prepare for the second season of the electric championship.

The FIM MotoE World Cup’s first official test of the 2020 season concluded today at Jerez, ending three days of intense and fruitful work for Avant Ajo MotoE. Niki Tuuli made steady progress, improving his personal best every time he went out on track and setting his fastest lap in the last session on Thursday. After 76 laps of the Andalusian track in total, the Finnish rider is satisfied and happy with the results and conclusions gathered.

After finishing the first day inside the Top 5 on Tuesday, Tuuli and his team dedicated Wednesday to testing different parts, trying to find the best set up for the bike. Niki improved his time from the previous day by half a second, stopping the clock at 1:48.598. After 25 laps, the Finnish rider and his crew ended Wednesday in sixth place on the combined timesheets.

On the last day of the test, Tuuli continued to take steps forward, as he was always in the Top 10 and finished 8th. Niki also clocked his fastest one-off lap: a 1:48.337. The Avant Ajo MotoE rider used the 24 laps he rode today to continue developing his machine setting, confirming the good feeling he and his team had already.

The next time Tuuli will ride the Avant Ajo MotoE bike will be from April 8 to 10th, at the same venue: the Jerez-Angel Nieto Circuit.

“The overall analysis of this first test is positive. At the beginning it was a little difficult for me to adapt to MotoE again, since I had not ridden the bike for a long time due to the injury I suffered last season. Our goal was to improve day after day, and we succeeded with that. We managed the test very well and completed our work plan. We are happy, even though we are not in the top positions on the overall timesheets. In the last session of the day we achieved our personal best, and that means that we were consistent. We found a good set up and I feel comfortable on my bike again. I’m very satisfied with the work that the whole team did. We are ready for the start of the 2020 season and the only thing that we need now is to get back to 100% fitness.”
