The Red Bull KTM Ajo Moto2 team complete the three-day Official Test in Qatar with a good feeling and are ready for the start of the Moto2 season.

After three days of intense work at the Losail International Circuit, the Red Bull KTM Ajo team concluded their preparations for the 2021 Moto2 World Championship season. Remy Gardner showed he is one of the most consistent and strong riders on the grid, setting the third best time both on Sunday and overall. Raul Fernandez continued his rapid adaptation to Moto2 and finished in eighth position today.

As happened on previous days, the Red Bull KTM Ajo Moto2 duo did not take to the track in the morning and saved themselves for the midday session. Gardner was ninth in that run out with a time of 2:00.149 and put in 9 more laps of the Qatari track. The Australian completed a programme designed to find the best setup for his bike for the first race of the year. His teammate did a great job on 14 laps, clocking a 2:00.709 for 18th.

In the afternoon, Gardner set the third best time on Sunday, with a personal best for the test: a 1:58.703, just 48 thousandths off the fastest rider overall. The Red Bull KTM Ajo Moto2 talent dedicated his 19 laps to confirming the findings made in the morning and looking for new improvements. Fernandez completed a 13-lap race simulation, after which he felt very comfortable. The Spaniard was eighth, with a 1:59.030.

Throughout these three days of work in Qatar, Remy Gardner and Raul Fernandez rode a total of 108 and 105 laps, respectively. The Red Bull KTM Ajo Moto2 duo will be back in action at the same track next weekend, for the first race of 2021 – from March 26th to 28th.

Aki Ajo – Team Manager
“Although this Sunday we had a great day of testing to conclude the 2021 pre-season, today we were not only focused on setting a good pace. In the last two sessions, we carried out various tests on technical aspects, with the first two races of the year in mind.
We are very happy with the pace the two riders showed and, most importantly, both Gardner and Fernandez feel well on their bikes. We are ready for the first round of the season.”

#87 Remy Gardner
“I am very satisfied with the work we did over these three days. Despite the conditions not being so good, in general, we set a strong pace. We are clear about things for next weekend, and that is the important thing. I want to thank the team for everything. I can’t wait for the first race of the year.”

#25 Raul Fernandez
“I’m very happy with how the test went in general. Today, at midday, we struggled a bit more, but in the afternoon, we did a race simulation and I felt good. We are ready for the first race, although some details still have to be polished. I’m grateful for the team that I have, which transmits such calm to me and are so patient with me.”
