The Avant Ajo MotoE rider faces Round 2 of the 2021 FIM MotoE World Cup season this weekend, coinciding with the French Grand Prix.

The legendary Le Mans track will host a new round of the FIM MotoE World Cup season this weekend, coinciding with the French Grand Prix. After his solid debut in the electric racing competition at Jerez, the Avant Ajo MotoE rider, Hikari Okubo, comes into the second event of 2021 highly motivated. The Japanese showed optimal adaptation to the team’s bike and crew and will work to continue progressing and gaining experience.

In Round 1, Okubo enjoyed a solid weekend, culminating in a seventh place finish in the race. The efforts of the rider and his team throughout pre-season paid off, and Hikari was very consistent in every session held at Jerez – despite the added difficulty of it being his first experience in the championship. Now the Avant Ajo MotoE competitor travels to Le Mans, currently lying seventh in the overall standings with a total of 9 points.

The 8-lap FIM MotoE World Cup round takes place on Sunday at 10:05 AM, local time.

“I know the track, since in 2017 I raced the 24 Hours of Le Mans there. It suits my riding style quite well, so we should be able to put in a good performance there. The aim will be to get on the podium. Everything indicates that it will rain at the weekend, although the weather in France is changeable. However, this won’t be a big handicap for me.
We will try to solve the small mistakes made in the Jerez contest. In recent days, I was training and trying to adapt my riding style to the requirements of MotoE. My feeling is good, so we are ready to face the second round of the season.”
