The Avant Ajo MotoE rider faces the third round of the 2021 FIM MotoE World Cup season with great motivation.

Avant Ajo MotoE and Hikari Okubo return to action this week for the third round of the 2021 FIM MotoE World Cup season. The Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya will host the electric motorcycle racing series for the first time in history, coinciding with the Catalan Grand Prix. Okubo faces this new challenge eager to continue taking steps forward with his adaptation to the series and claim a good result in the process.

The Japanese rider arrives in Barcelona wanting to make up for the misfortune he experienced at Le Mans, when a collision with another rider when leading the race denied him a chance at victory. Hikari Okubo had previously climbed 10 positions in the space of just 2 laps. This weekend, the Avant Ajo MotoE rider will try to keep up his excellent work and qualify on the front row of the grid at the Catalan track. He currently occupies 10th position in the overall standings with 9 points.

The 7-lap FIM MotoE World Cup race takes place on Sunday at 4:00 PM local time.

“After the first two rounds, my feelings with the MotoE bike are optimal since I have been able to fight with the top riders. It was a pity about the crash we suffered at Le Mans, but before that we showed that we are strong and that we have a good pace. As far as the track is concerned, I know it very well thanks to a test there that helped me get to know the circuit – albeit with a different bike. This will be the first MotoE race in Barcelona and new things are sure to come up, but we will work hard to fix them. My goal, once again, is to work for the front positions and, if possible, for the podium.”
