The Avant Ajo MotoE rider returns to action this week at the legendary Assen circuit, which will host a FIM MotoE World Cup event for the first time.

Hikari Okubo and Avant Ajo MotoE travel to the Netherlands this week, for the fourth round of the 2021 FIM MotoE World Cup season. The historic Assen circuit will host the electric competition for the first time ever, coinciding with the Dutch Grand Prix. The Japanese rider faces this contest with a positive mindset and the aim of continuing to make progress.

At the last round of the series, held in Barcelona, Hikari Okubo took ninth position, rounding off a tricky weekend for him at the Catalan track. Now the Japanese will have the new challenge of a first experience with a MotoE machine at Assen. The Avant Ajo MotoE rider will work hard with his team to adapt and learn the peculiarities of the circuit, with the hope of increasing the 16-point total that situates him eleventh in the FIM MotoE World Cup.

The 7-lap MotoE Dutch Grand Prix is set for Sunday at 3:30 PM local time.

“After Catalonia, I realised that I don’t have to put so much pressure on myself. I have to go out more relaxed and enjoy riding the bike. These weeks off helped me to reset, and this weekend we will push to the fullest – but without stopping having fun.
I like Assen, and I raced there several times; it is a wild track. I am concerned about the weather because it changes quickly. However, we will give one hundred percent, regardless of whether it is sunny or raining. The objective, once again, is to fight for the top positions, since it is the last contest before the summer break, and we want to go into that feeling good.”
