Okubo ready to close the 2021 season with good result at Misano

The Avant Ajo MotoE rider faces the sixth and final round of the FIM MotoE World Cup this weekend, with races on Saturday and Sunday.

Hikari Okubo faces the final stretch of the 2021 FIM MotoE World Cup this weekend, taking on the last round of the season at the Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli. For the first time this year, the Avant Ajo MotoE rider will compete in two races on the same weekend, the first on Saturday and the second on Sunday. The Japanese rider feels prepared and motivated to conclude his first campaign in the series with a good result alongside the San Marino Grand Prix.

At the most recent round, Okubo enjoyed a great race, finishing inside the Top 5 in Austria. This result demonstrated the progression and adaptation that he has made in the FIM MotoE World Cup, ahead of his first visit to Misano with an electric bike. He currently occupies the tenth position in the overall standings, with 35 points.

The first 8-lap MotoE race will be held on Saturday at 4:20 PM local time, with the second on Sunday at 3:30 PM.

“With one race left in my rookie year in the FIM MotoE World Cup, I can say that my feelings with the bike have been good. It has been a positive season and a great championship. This weekend will be the last round of 2021, so I hope I can get a positive result. In the last few races, we did quite well, and at the Austrian Grand Prix I got my best position of the campaign.

I like Misano because I have raced there many times in the World Supersport Championship, and I have been there for testing on a few occasions. I will try to have a strong performance in both contests, to round things off in the best possible way.”
