Avant Ajo MotoE and Hikari Okubo continue together for 202231/01/2022
The Japanese rider and the team will collaborate for a second season in the FIM MotoE World Cup.
Avant Ajo MotoE are pleased to announce the renewal of rider Hikari Okubo, who will compete in the 2022 FIM MotoE World Cup. The Japanese will participate with the team in his sophomore campaign in the class, with a year of experience in the electric series under his belt. In the team’s fourth season in the competition, they will fight for good results with Okubo in their ranks.
Okubo was born on August 11th, 1993, in Koraida, a city west of Tokyo. He enjoyed success in Asian competitions, taking the title in the 125cc class of the All Japan Road Race Championship in 2010 and in the inaugural season of the Asia Dream Cup in 2012. From 2016 he competed in the World Supersport Championship, where he managed to finish fifth in the overall standings in 2019.
In 2021, Okubo joined Avant Ajo MotoE for his debut year in the FIM MotoE World Cup. He enjoyed a positive campaign, making consistent steps forward and claiming good results in the final races of the season. The Japanese rider and the team hope to carry on this form and make further improvements in 2022.
Avant Ajo MotoE and Hikari Okubo will be in action at the first official test of the 2022 FIM MotoE World Cup season, which will take place from March 7-9th at Jerez.
Aki Ajo – Team Manager
“We are very happy to continue working with Hikari [Okubo] one more year in the FIM MotoE World Cup. Last year, he proved to be one of the riders with more chances to fight for the top positions, and he arrives with more experience this campaign. Time for practice is limited in this class, so it is important for us to keep the same rider. We are certain that Hikari’s analytic work ethic during the weekends will allow him to achieve good results. This will be the team’s fourth season in this Cup. Keeping the same staff for another year is crucial, as well as the same sponsors from last campaign. We hope that our experience will enable us to fight for great success.”

“I’m very happy to be continuing with Avant Ajo MotoE for my second season in the FIM MotoE World Cup. They are a great team, with very professional staff, so I am pleased.
The results were not what we expected last year, but we improved race after race, and in the final rounds we fought for the top positions. For this campaign, our goal will be, first of all, to fight to place on the podium and, if possible, for victories. Once we get that, we will try to get to the top of the standings. I am positive and I think we will be able to put in good performances this season.”
