The Avant Ajo MotoE rider begins the 2022 FIM MotoE World Cup pre-season in good shape, following three positive days at the Andalusian track.

This Wednesday, the Avant Ajo MotoE team and Hikari Okubo concluded the first practice of the 2022 FIM MotoE World Cup pre-season. The Jerez-Angel Nieto Circuit hosted three days of official testing, in which the Japanese rider had the opportunity to get track time in both dry and wet conditions. Okubo placed 9th on the combined timesheets, putting in a total of 48 laps throughout Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.

After finishing in sixth place on Monday, the Japanese rider confirmed his good feeling on Tuesday. On the second day of the test, Okubo was able to ride in the wet, due to the rain that fell at the Spanish track. The Japanese set a time of 1:59.233 which placed him in 3rd position on the combined timesheets. The Avant Ajo MotoE rider accumulated 21 laps that helped him gain more confidence and feel more comfortable on board his electric motorcycle.

On Wednesday, the last day of the Jerez official test, Okubo continued to work hard with his team, fine-tuning details of the setup of the Avant Ajo MotoE machine. Today the Japanese occupied 15th position on the combined timesheets, with a 2:01.941 time.

Hikari Okubo will be back on the Avant Ajo MotoE bike for the last test of the 2022 pre-season, which sees him return to Jerez on April 11th to 13th.

“Today was a complicated day for us because we suffered a crash. Nevertheless, we had a good feeling during the sessions and the test overall. Now it is time to analyse all the information we extracted from the three days of training in Jerez and keep working to be prepared for the next round of the pre-season in approximately a month.”
