09/04/2022

The Red Bull KTM Ajo Moto3 duo go directly into Q2 and qualify on the second and third rows of the grid, respectively, for the Americas GP race.

The Circuit of The Americas hosted qualifying for the Americas Grand Prix on Saturday, deciding the grid for the fourth round of the 2022 Moto3 World Championship season. Following a strong opening day, Red Bull KTM Ajo had both of their riders in Q2. Jaume Masia achieved a positive fifth position and will start tomorrow’s race from the second row. On Row 3 will be Dani Holgado, who continues to learn and adapt quickly and finished the day in seventh place.

Saturday started well for the Red Bull KTM Ajo Moto3 pair, who continued on from yesterday with a positive performance in FP3. Masia was the second fastest in the session thanks to a time of 2:16.259, which he set on his 11th attempt of a total of 14. The Spaniard did not lose concentration despite a red flag caused by an incident on the track that forced a pause in the practice for several minutes. Holgado continued to focus on the task at hand. On just his second day at the American track, the Red Bull KTM Ajo Moto3 rookie concluded in ninth place after stopping the clock in 2:16.798.

Thanks to the good work carried out in Free Practice as a whole, the two Red Bull KTM Ajo Moto3 talents went straight into Q2. In that runout, Masia finished fifth with a time of 2:16.409 and, with this result, secured a place on the second row of the grid for the Americas Grand Prix. On the third row will be his teammate, Holgado, who, after stopping the clock at 2:16.551, was seventh.

The Moto3 Grand Prix of the Americas, scheduled for a total of 17 laps, takes place on Sunday at 2:30 PM, local time. It will close the race day action at COTA.

#5 JAUME MASIA

“I am happy with the fifth position we achieved on the grid. The most important thing is that, throughout today, we have been fast and competitive. We will have to see what kind of race we have tomorrow, but what is certain is that we are strong and that we will give one hundred percent in the contest to try to finish this round with a good result on Sunday.”

#96 DANI HOLGADO

“It’s been a great day for us. Both in FP3 and in the qualifying session, we felt very good. In Q2 we were lacking a great lap but, even so, we are happy, since we qualified on the third row of the grid for tomorrow. I feel satisfied because together with the team we did a great job, and now we are ready for the contest. We will give our all to try to have a positive race.”
