The wait is over for Avant Ajo MotoE

Hikari Okubo returns to the Jerez-Angel Nieto Circuit for the first round of the 2022 FIM MotoE World Cup season.

After a long winter break, the 2022 FIM MotoE World Cup campaign will get underway this weekend in Jerez, alongside the Spanish Grand Prix. After the great work carried out during pre-season, Hikari Okubo and the Avant Ajo MotoE team face the first round of the year with high expectations. This will be the fourth consecutive year for the team in the electric competition, which shows a commitment to sustainability as well as excitement.

Okubo approaches the beginning of the 2022 campaign after two positive pre-season tests at the Jerez-Angel Nieto Circuit. The Japanese completed a total of six days of work at the track, during which he and his team looked to find a good base setup for his MotoE machine. The first round of the year marks what will be his second campaign in the electric series, in which he hopes to take advantage of all the knowledge acquired last season and fight for good results.

The inaugural race of the 2022 FIM MotoE World Cup will be held on Saturday at 4:15 PM local time, with the second on Sunday at 3:30 PM.

“Pre-season was positive, because I was able to start using a new riding style more suitable for the MotoE bike. We also did a race simulation, and it went quite well. We did some training in Japan too, so I feel well prepared to begin the 2022 campaign – more than last year. The target for the first MotoE race is to fight for the top positions, so we’ll give 100% and try to achieve our first podium in this competition this weekend. I’m looking forward to Round 1 and seeing what we are capable of doing.”
