The legendary Le Mans circuit hosted the second race of the weekend for the FIM MotoE World Cup on Sunday. Hikari Okubo once again showed that he is in good form, fighting for the podium and finally achieving a solid sixth position. The Avant Ajo MotoE rider concluded Round 2 of the 2022 season having achieved his first podium in the electric series on Saturday, and further points in Race 2.
The Avant Ajo MotoE rider made a good start from the second row of the grid, placing third at the first corner. The high temperatures at the French circuit meant that Okubo had to push hard from the get-go, but shortly afterwards he was overtaken by a rival, and later would be caught by other riders. “It was a good second race. We tried to fight for the podium, but the other competitors were stronger than me today. We had a very good feeling after the podium we achieved yesterday and we took important points for the championship. In general, it was a great weekend in Le Mans, and we have shown that we have a chance to fight for a top position this year. Now it’s time to focus on the next round in Italy, where we’ll give 100% to try to get a good result.”
