The Avant Ajo MotoE rider travels to Italy this weekend, where two FIM MotoE World Cup races will take place.

The 2022 season of the FIM MotoE World Cup moves to Mugello for Round 3 of the campaign. A motivated Hikari Okubo will face two races this weekend, held alongside the Italian Grand Prix. The Japanese rider is positive about his first time at the track onboard the Avant Ajo MotoE bike.

Two weeks ago, at Le Mans, Okubo took his first podium finish in the FIM MotoE World Cup, finishing third in Race 1. On Sunday, he added a solid sixth position to his return from the weekend, after fighting for the podium. Mugello is a circuit where he has never raced before on an electric motorcycle, and he will have to learn the demands of the Italian track well in order to challenge for more good results. The Japanese rider occupies fifth in the overall standings, with 47 points.

The first race of the weekend for the FIM MotoE World Cup will take place on Saturday at 4:25 PM local time, with the second on Sunday at 3:30 PM. Both will be held over 6 laps.

“I’m really happy after achieving my first MotoE podium at Le Mans, as it was one of our targets for this season. This weekend will be a challenging one, as I’ve never been to Mugello before. Many people say that it’s a fantastic track, a very fast circuit with a long straight, so I guess that I’ll enjoy riding there. There will be a lot of riders who are competitive this week, as they’ll be riding at home. However, I’ll give it my best like always. I’ll try to get on the podium again and, if it’s possible, fight for the victory. The most important thing will be taking the greatest number of points possible for the championship. I’m ready to start Round 3.”
