The Avant Ajo MotoE rider finished twelfth in a wet race cut short due to the track conditions

This Saturday, the Autodromo Internazionale del Mugello hosted an FIM MotoE World Cup race for the first time in history. Hikari Okubo finished the first race of the weekend in twelfth position, in a contest affected by weather conditions that forced a reduction in the number of laps. The Avant Ajo MotoE rider claimed points on his first experience with an electric bike at the Italian track.

Okubo started the MotoE race from 11th position on the grid. The contest was declared wet and reduced to five laps due to rainfall, which began shortly before the start. The Avant Ajo MotoE rider got off the line well and recovered positions on the opening laps, slotting into the Top 10. The delicate conditions of the track and short race duration prevented Okubo from gaining more positions, and he finished in twelfth place. Nevertheless, his feeling throughout the weekend has been positive.

The second race of Round 3 of the FIM MotoE World Cup will be held on Sunday at 3:30 PM, local time, and is scheduled for six laps.

#78 HIKARI OKUBO

“I tried to push from the start and I gained some positions, but the rest of the riders were faster. I was focused on riding well, because the track was wet and the conditions were not the best – and were very different from yesterday. We lacked a little something, but even so we managed to score some points. Tomorrow we’ll try to get a better result here at Mugello and we’ll give one hundred percent.”
