Öncü and Rueda face final race of the tripleheader at Assen

20/06/2023

The Red Bull KTM Ajo Moto3 duo will compete at the Dutch Grand Prix, the eighth race of the season.

Deniz Öncü and Jose Antonio Rueda move on to the Netherlands after a strong weekend in Germany. Öncü was the absolute protagonist on Sunday, taking his first win, while Rueda progressed in all conditions to finish thirteenth.

Öncü finished the German Grand Prix in the best possible way and took his first Moto3 victory after a great overtake on the last corner. Following his long-awaited maiden win, he faces the Dutch GP with more motivation after placing on the podium in the first two races of the three back-to-back rounds. Öncü finished in the Top 10 at Assen in 2022 and this time he will seek to improve on that result. He is currently fifth in the overall standings with 62 points.

Rueda continues to take steps forward in his first year as a Moto3 World Championship rider. Despite not having the best feeling in Germany, the Spanish rider improved both in the dry and wet sessions. A difficult race at the Sachsenring saw him place thirteenth. Assen will be a new circuit for the Red Bull KTM Ajo rider, who is ninth in the standings with 42 points.

Red Bull KTM Ajo Moto3 team are fourth in the Team standings with 120 points. The 20-lap Moto3 race will be held on Sunday at the TT Circuit Assen at 11 AM.

#53 DENIZ ÖNCÜ

“We are really strong at the moment, both the team and myself. These last few weeks have been amazing for us, especially last weekend in Germany. Now we are going into the third race in a row and we are really motivated. We need to start from zero and keep that same desire.”

#99 JOSE ANTONIO RUEDA

“Our expectations are focused on continuing to improve with the bike and feeling 100% comfortable. Our goal is to try to get to the front in the race and improve in qualifying compared to last weekend. There is no reason why we shouldn’t also try to be in the front group.”
