Second and third rows for Red Bull KTM Ajo Moto2 at Valencia GP

25/11/2023

Pedro Acosta sets the sixth best time of the day, while Albert Arenas finishes in ninth position.

This Saturday, the packed Circuit Ricardo Tormo hosted the last qualifying sessions of this season. Red Bull KTM Ajo faced an intense day in which they fought for the best positions on the grid. Pedro Acosta will start his last race with the team in sixth position, while Albert Arenas will do so from the third row, in ninth place.

The third and final practice saw optimal track conditions to continue improving lap times. The Red Bull KTM Ajo duo started the session looking for the best setup and a direct spot in Q2. Acosta focused on race pace after having clocked the best time on Friday. He couldn’t find the best feeling with his KTM and, after 15 laps, set his fastest time on the last attempt. A 1:34.103 put him in eighteenth position in a session that saw up to 20 riders within the same second. Arenas took a step forward to climb positions on the timesheets. After a pit stop, the Spanish rider improved his times to take tenth, with a 1:33.956. Acosta was sixth in the combined classification and Arenas eleventh, and both progressed to Q2.

In Q2, Acosta and Arenas had a tough session in which both had to put in extra effort to get a good position for the race. Acosta improved his morning time and took advantage of his final attempt to clock his best time. Thanks to his 1:33.762, he will start the race from the second row of the grid, in sixth position. Arenas also managed to lower his time, for his best lap since the start of the weekend. The Spaniard, who is also competing in his last race with the team this Sunday, will start from ninth position due to a time of 1:33.884.

The Moto2 22-laps race will take place this Sunday at 1:15 PM local time.

#37 PEDRO ACOSTA
“We are improving with every practice, although I lacked a bit of feeling in qualifying, but in the end a second row is very good. It is a good position to be able to get to the front from the beginning. Tomorrow we will take things calmly, it will be a fast race and we want to enjoy it.”

#75 ALBERT ARENAS
“Today we took a step compared to yesterday, with a feeling similar to those from Practice 1. Tomorrow we are going to enjoy every lap of the race and we are going to try to be in the fight to win, because we have the pace, so we are going to enjoy the last race of the year.”
