Rueda and Zurutuza ready for DutchGP in top form

26/06/2024

The Red Bull KTM Ajo Moto3 duo face two intense consecutive weeks of racing.

The first break of this season comes to an end this weekend, as the Red Bull KTM Ajo riders return to competition at the Dutch TT. Jose Antonio Rueda and Xabi Zurutuza are chasing strong results at the historic TT Circuit Assen.

Rueda placed sixth last year on his first appearance at the venue, whilst his recent form has also been solid. The Red Bull KTM Ajo rider saw his chances of fighting for victory at the Italian Grand Prix slip away after a collision with another rider, having started on the front row. He has taken advantage of the three-week break to prepare for the coming double-header, and is currently eighth in the overall standings with 45 points.

Zurutuza faces a new circuit for him, and is coming back from a heavy crash at Mugello that required him to be taken to hospital. Whilst he has worked intensely to regain fitness and compete in the Dutch TT, he will have to undergo a medical check on Thursday to get the all-clear to compete. He is 22nd in the standings, with 22 points.

Red Bull KTM Ajo are seventh in the Team rankings, with 51 points. Last year, they were on the podium at Assen with Deniz Öncü’s third position. The 20-lap Moto3 race will take place on Sunday from 11am local time.

#99 JOSE ANTONIO RUEDA

“After this three-week break I am looking forward to working with the team again. Last year we had a good result here and this year our first objective is to improve on that and continue fighting for the top positions and for the victory. We are racing for two weeks in a row, but we have worked very hard to arrive at Assen in good shape.”

#85 XABI ZURUTUZA

“We are arriving at a circuit that I don’t know, but I can’t wait to learn it. I have worked hard during these last few weeks to be at 100% after the Mugello accident. We have good expectations and we will continue working from where we left off to fight for a good result.”
