Seventh and ninth places for Muñoz and Veijer at Sepang
26/10/2025For the second time this season, Red Bull KTM Ajo manage to finish with both riders in the Top 10.
Daniel Muñoz and Collin Veijer finished seventh and ninth in a difficult and volatile Malaysian Grand Prix, which was curtailed due to a crash for Joe Roberts and restarted at a much shorter distance. With this result, the Red Bull KTM Ajo Moto2 team had both riders in the Top 10 for the second time this season, following on from the Catalan Grand Prix.
The day had taken a turn with the Moto3 formation lap incident between Jose Antonio Rueda and Noah Dettwiler, and the Moto2 race was the last to run in Sepang. Conditions were very hot, reaching 53°C on the asphalt.
Joe Roberts’ crash on the home straight forced Race Control to bring out the red flag. After the restart, the race distance went from 17 laps to just 11.
Muñoz ended the first lap of the restart in 13th place, but the Spaniard reacted quickly, recovering several positions to fight for the Top 10 from the fourth lap onwards. Running ninth until the penultimate lap, the Red Bull KTM Ajo rider gradually gained ground on those ahead of him, allowing him to overtake two more riders. One of the passes came on the final lap, to achieve his second-best result ever as a World Championship rider. He came home in seventh place, and with 32 points is now 20th in the overall standings.
Veijer dropped to 17th on the second start, but was also able to make amends early, moving from 17th to 14th in the space of just one lap. From then on, the Dutchman steadily gained places on every lap, eventually placing ninth with three laps remaining. Following in his teammate’s footsteps, Veijer was able to maintain his ninth position until the end, taking seven important points in Malaysia. It was his sixth Top 10 finish in the last eight races and the seventh inside the points. With 64 points, Veijer remains 19th in the overall standings.
Positive outcome for Red Bull KTM Ajo after a difficult start to Sunday at Sepang. Red Bull KTM Ajo now have 196 points and rise to seventh in the Team standings. The series now returns to Europe with the Portuguese Grand Prix, on November 7-9th.
The entire Red Bull KTM Ajo team wish both Jose Antonio Rueda and Noah Dettwiler a speedy recovery following the incident that occurred during the Sighting Lap of the Moto3 race.

NIKLAS AJO – Team Manager
“The weekend was very positive overall. Both riders, especially Dani, were on the pace from Friday and managed to qualify well, on the second and fourth row. Collin struggled a little bit more during the weekend, but he made a great recovery today during the race, as did Dani. The start was not so good for either of them, but they managed things very well lap by lap to finish in solid Top 10 positions.”
#95 COLLIN VEIJER
“It was a very strange day today in general. It was not easy to race after what happened at the start of Moto3 with Jose Antonio and Noah, so I want to send them my best wishes after that scary incident. Our race was a hard one, with high temperatures on track and a bad start, where I dropped to 17th. We did a great job during the race and showed good pace, so I recovered a lot of positions to finish in the Top 10. The feeling today was very good and we enjoyed a lot of overtaking in this short Grand Prix, so we take the positives away before returning to Europe.”
#17 DANIEL MUÑOZ
“First of all, I want to send a lot of support to both our teammate Jose Antonio and Noah Dettwiler after the serious incident that involved them both this morning. As for our race, it was a bit chaotic, especially after the small issue we had before the warmup lap at the start of the first race -and the start of both races. Ultimately, we managed to handle the situation on the restart and made up positions to achieve our second-best result in the class. I want to thank everyone at Red Bull KTM Ajo for the opportunity we’ve been given throughout the flyaway rounds. It’s been a pleasure to work with them.”
