Veijer and Muñoz arrive in Indonesia to complete first flyaway double-header
01/10/2025The two Red Bull KTM Ajo Moto2 riders are looking to repeat their strong showing from Motegi at Mandalika.
Collin Veijer and Daniel Muñoz form the Red Bull KTM Ajo Moto2 lineup at the Pertamina Mandalika International Circuit this weekend, aiming to finish inside the points at the Indonesian Grand Prix.
With four finishes inside the Top 10 out of the last five rounds, Veijer is in his best form of the season. The rookie, who had only managed to place in the Top 10 once before the summer break, is now doing so regularly. The latest example took place just a few days ago at Motegi, where after qualifying in ninth place, he took the chequered flag in tenth. At Mandalika, he was fast throughout his time in Moto3. In his first appearance there as a World Championship rider, in 2023, he managed to qualify third and finish fourth in the race, just a tenth of a second off the race winner. Last year, he was second on the grid and crashed out while leading the race. Veijer currently has 45 points for the season and is in 19th place.
Muñoz will once again join the Dutchman in the Red Bull KTM Ajo garage. The Spanish rider takes part in his seventh Grand Prix of the season with the team, replacing the injured Deniz Oncü. He arrives in Indonesia in good form, despite not having been able to round off a consistent weekend in Japan with a positive race result. He had managed to get straight into Q2 and qualified 17th, with a good race pace, but a heavy crash on the opening lap of the Japanese Grand Prix ultimately left him out of the running. After failing to finish the race for the first time this season, he has the chance to get back on track this weekend at Mandalika. Last year, he competed in the Indonesian round in Moto2, finishing very close to the Top 20. In the overall standings, Muñoz is just behind his teammate in 20th, with 23 points.
In short, Red Bull KTM Ajo will repeat its line-up in Indonesia while waiting to see whether Deniz Öncü will be available for the final stretch of the season. Veijer and Muñoz will therefore aim to have a competitive and solid weekend to earn more points for the team, which is currently eighth in the Team standings with 168 points. In the three previous Indonesian Grands Prix done since the circuit was built in 2021, the team have a victory with Pedro Acosta in 2023.
With a similar schedule than in the JapaneseGP, the intermediate class riders will take to the track for the first time on Friday, starting at 9:50 a.m. (local time). Sunday’s 22-lap race will be held at 1:15 p.m., one hour later than usually.

“We’re coming off a good weekend overall, so we want to keep it up during this next round in Mandalika. It’s a track where I had two good races in my two previous years as a Moto3 rider. We found out a lot of things at Motegi, so I want to try to take another step forward in Indonesia -especially in the first four laps of Sunday’s race, where we have more room for improvement. We will work during Friday and Saturday to achieve this. We want to start in the best way possible and enjoy the Grand Prix to the fullest.”
#17 DANIEL MUÑOZ
“We’re back in Indonesia, where I was able to take part in the Grand Prix last year as well. I’m happy to be familiar with the Mandalika circuit. We’re coming off a positive weekend, but it ended with a mistake by me, so I’m eager to get started and show that we’re capable of much more. This is a circuit I like, so we’re going to try to enjoy it and learn as much as possible alongside the entire Red Bull KTM Ajo team. I thank the team, once again, for the trust they’ve shown and the opportunity they’ve given me. We have the potential to fight for good positions, so we’re going to show that we can.”
