Red Bull KTM Ajo Moto3 rider targets return to the points at British GP this weekend.

The return from the Moto3 World Championship’s summer break has not been easy for Darryn Binder. After coming back from an injury to his right collarbone, the Red Bull KTM Ajo had a packed schedule of two consecutive races to take on. Now, after a first week of rest, Binder hopes to take a step forward at the British Grand Prix and get more points on the board.

The South African last rode at Silverstone two years ago, since last season he missed the British round due to injury. His best result there is a twenty-first place, in 2016. The main objective for the Red Bull KTM Ajo rider will be to get back into the Top 15, which he last did at the Dutch TT just before his collarbone injury.

The race will be contested over 17 laps of the longest circuit on the calendar, which has been completely resurfaced this winter. A modification to the time schedule means the Moto3 contest will remain the first of the weekend, but will start at 11:20am local time on Sunday. The last top result for the Red Bull KTM Ajo team there in the class was in 2016, with victory for Brad Binder and third place for Bo Bendsneyder.

“The last few races, in the Czech Republic and Austria, didn’t go as we wanted, and I think we can do a better job; I hope that we can do that at Silverstone and fight for the positions we should be in. Last year I couldn’t ride there due to an injury, but it’s a circuit that I like. I can’t wait to ride at the circuit with a KTM, since I have never done that before and because if we work hard from Friday we can achieve a good result. The weather is always an unknown, so we must adapt to whatever comes our way.”
