Brad Binder and Jorge Martin go into the San Marino Grand Prix this weekend ready to maintain their momentum.

The Red Bull KTM Ajo Moto2 team are all set to return to action this weekend at the Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli, with the aim of keeping up their recent strong form. Brad Binder and Jorge Martin approach the 13th round of the season on an upward trajectory, having turned a corner at the post-Catalan Grand Prix test, from which point onwards they have recorded four podiums and produced a string of solid race results.

The podium achieved by Brad Binder last time out at the British GP was another testament to the hard work that has been carried out by the Red Bull KTM Ajo Moto2 team continually throughout the 2019 season. In addition to the victory at the Austrian GP and the two second place finishes in the Netherlands and Germany, the Silverstone result underlined the South African’s status as one of the key riders in the championship at this point, having racked up four podiums in the last five races. At Misano – where he won in 2016 in the Moto3 class and where he has achieved two Top 10 results in Moto2 – his goal will be to fight for the top positions once again.

On the other side of the Red Bull KTM Ajo box, Jorge Martin also heads into the 13th round of the season in an optimistic frame of mind. The Moto2 rookie scored points at four of the last five races, including a strong comeback at Silverstone three weeks ago. He also has fond memories of the San Marino GP, having finished second last season in the Moto3 race, in addition to notching two pole positions on his last two visits to Misano.

The 25-lap Moto2 race takes place this Sunday, 15th September, at 12:20 pm local time. Last year the Red Bull KTM Moto2 team were on the podium at Misano, courtesy of a second place finish achieved by Miguel Oliveira.

“I’m really looking forward to the San Marino Grand Prix. In the past I’ve enjoyed riding at Misano and in 2016 I got the win in Moto3, so I have good memories of the track. The last couple of seasons have been a bit harder but I’m sure that we’ll be competitive this weekend. My goal for this round is to give our maximum right from FP1 through to the race. I’m really motivated to fight for the victory, as I feel that we are getting closer to the top riders, even whilst having some problems. If we stay focused, I’m sure we will do a good job.”

“In the past, Misano has always been a good track for me. Although I’ve just had a small operation to remove some screws, I feel well physically and I’ve recovered 100%. My goal for this Grand Prix is to finish the race in the Top 10. We have to work hard from day one if we want to be up there, so we’ll do our best to make that possible.”
