The Avant Ajo MotoE rider completes two positive first Free Practice sessions on the opening day of the third round of the 2020 FIM MotoE World Cup.

The opening day of the Round 3 of the FIM MotoE World Cup saw Avant Ajo MotoE and Niki Tuuli return to work at the Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli. After two long months recovering from injury, the Finnish rider showed that he was in good shape with a solid performance in FP1 and FP2, improving his times from morning to afternoon by almost a second. Tuuli finished 6th on the combined timesheets for Friday.

Favourable weather conditions allowed Niki Tuuli to make the most of FP1, gradually getting his feeling back on-board his electric machine. The Avant Ajo MotoE rider completed a total of 9 laps in which he made steady progress, setting his best time on his penultimate attempt: a 1:45:302. The Finn ended the session in eighth position, just 1 tenth outside the Top 5.

The steps forward continued in FP2, where Niki Tuuli was able to cut almost a second off his personal best from the morning. His 1:44.585, from 8 laps, earned him 6th in the session.

The Avant Ajo MotoE rider will have a final Free Practice on Saturday morning, followed by E-Pole at 4:10 pm local time.

“I am well after the first two Free Practice sessions. I have improved my feeling a lot, since I rode in a relaxed and calm way. In addition, we improved our lap times from last year here. We have to continue on this path, working hard as we have been doing so far to try to take further steps forward tomorrow.”
