Red Bull KTM Ajo Moto3 duo kick off campaign in Qatar

06/03/2024

Jose Antonio Rueda and Vicente Perez will compete in the Qatar Grand Prix at the Lusail International Circuit.

The waiting has come to an end and this weekend the 2024 Moto3 World Championship season begins. Jose Antonio Rueda and Vicente Perez are in Qatar to compete at the first of the 21 rounds scheduled for this year, after a very satisfactory preseason for our Red Bull KTM Ajo Moto3 team.

Rueda concluded preseason as the fastest rider in the Official Test that took place last week at the Circuito de Jerez – Angel Nieto. This will be the second time that the Red Bull KTM Ajo rider races at Lusail, where last year he finished in 16th position. He has worked hard this winter to come into the first round of the season in top shape, and has the determination to achieve great results from day one.

Perez travels to Qatar with Red Bull KTM Ajo to compete in the first race of the season, as a replacement for Xabi Zurutuza -who is still not the required age to compete in the class-. The Spaniard, who will also ride at the Portuguese Grand Prix, is very excited about this new challenge and looking to perform at his best. Last year he was fifth at the Lusail International Circuit.

The Red Bull KTM Ajo Moto3 team were on the podium in Qatar last year thanks to Deniz Öncü’s third position. In 2021, both Jaume Masia and Pedro Acosta achieved great results, finishing first and second respectively at the Qatar Grand Prix, with Acosta also winning the Doha Grand Prix at the same track. In addition, Brad Binder was second in 2016. The 16-lap Moto3 Qatar Grand Prix will take place on Sunday, March 10th at 5 PM local time.

#99 JOSE ANTONIO RUEDA

“In the preseason tests we were able to try out many things and we have a good base for the upcoming circuits. I am looking forward to starting the season; you typically feel some nerves at the beginning of the year, but we know that the conditions will be different and that we have to adapt from the beginning. We feel strong and very confident that we can do well in Qatar.”

#21 VICENTE PEREZ

“I am very motivated to start the weekend with Red Bull KTM Ajo. It is a circuit that I really like and where I have achieved my best result in the World Championship. I am looking forward to getting going and I think we can do well. Our goal is to work hard from Friday and do my best.”
