Carpe and Uriarte head to Indonesia with momentum on their side

07/10/2026

Red Bull KTM Ajo Moto3 team move on to Mandalika after a double Top 4 finish in Japan.

Alvaro Carpe and Brian Uriarte will take part in the Indonesian Grand Prix this weekend, concluding a double header for the Moto3 World Championship in Asia. Just days after a solid weekend in Japan, in which they took third and fourth place, respectively, the Red Bull KTM Ajo Moto3 riders now move on to the Pertamina Mandalika International Circuit looking to add to their tally of 12 podiums in 2026.

Carpe himself has two consecutive podiums, with back-to-back third places in Austria and Japan. He was a permanent fixture in the Top 4 from Friday onwards, and qualified third for the race, remaining in the fight for the top spots throughout the race. He crossed the finish line just two seconds behind the race winner, for a seventh rostrum of the year. His points tally stands at 191, with the Spaniard third in the overall standings, just eight points behind David Almansa. The Red Bull KTM Ajo rider is already familiar with Mandalika, where last season he delivered one of his best performances of the second half of the year: he made an exceptional start to take the holeshot and consistently ran inside the Top 5, only to be forced to retire after getting caught up in a multi-rider crash while battling for a podium spot.

Uriarte was also on the pace in Japan a week ago. In his Motegi debut, he placed third in Practice and subsequently took second on the grid, missing out on Pole Position by just 45 thousandths of a second. During the race he was hindered by a double Long Lap penalty, but made the best of the situation to finish fourth, right behind Carpe. With 187 points, Uriarte is fourth in the overall standings -just twelve points off second place- and remains the leader of the Rookie of the Year ranking with an 82-point advantage. Mandalika will be a completely new challenge for him, as he has never raced at the Indonesian circuit before.

Red Bull KTM Ajo Moto3 picked up 29 points in Japan, bringing their Team standings total to 378 and staying in second place. On the other hand, the team arrives to the 17th round of the year with great memories for everyone, as a year ago Jose Antonio Rueda claimed the team’s first-ever victory in Indonesia- winning the Moto3 World Championship title in the process.

As usual, Moto3 action kicks off this Friday with Free Practice 1 at 9:00 a.m. (local time). The 20-lap Indonesian Grand Prix will take place this Sunday at 12:00 p.m., one hour later than normally, at Mandalika.

#83 ALVARO CARPE

“We’ve been maintaining consistent form and are coming off a very strong weekend, but we know we still need to find a little more to stay at the front throughout the race. I really like the circuit in Indonesia. We put in a great performance there last year -even if the outcome wasn’t ideal- so I’m eager to put myself to the test and see what we’re capable of. It’s a beautiful country and always a pleasure to visit there, so we’ll try to put on a great show for the fans, who are so passionate about this sport.”

#51 BRIAN URIARTE

“I’ve been really looking forward to Indonesia. I think it will be a fun circuit, and one I’ll enjoy, but we’ll need to work hard right from the start to adapt to both its characteristics and the weather conditions. We’re coming off a very solid weekend at a track that was new to me, so we’ll try to keep that momentum going and have a bit more luck on Sunday. I’m sure we’ll have a great time and enjoy it to the fullest, as visiting such a spectacular island is a wonderful experience.”
