Deniz Öncü to ride again for Red Bull KTM Ajo Moto3 team at Aragon

While Can Öncü recovers from his left collarbone fracture, his twin brother will replace him again at the 14th round of the World Championship.

The World Championship continues its European journey this weekend, where the next date on the calendar is the Aragon Grand Prix in Spain, the last stop before the riders and teams head to the overseas races in Thailand, Japan, Australia and Malaysia. With almost no time to rest, the Red Bull KTM Ajo Moto3 team return to action with Deniz Öncü, again set to replace his twin brother Can, who is recovering after surgery on the left collarbone fracture he sustained in Misano.

Deniz Öncü creditably rose to the tough challenge of jumping on the Red Bull KTM Ajo Moto3 bike at the last minute at the San Marino GP, achieving his best result in the World Championship so far – finishing in 16th place – despite having to swerve a crash by another rider in the race. Now, the Turkish youngster heads to a track where he had great success in the Red Bull MotoGP Rookies Cup – notching two victories there in 2018 – and where he also competed in the FIM CEV.

The 19-lap Aragon GP contest will start on Sunday 22nd September at 11:20 am local time. The Red Bull KTM Ajo Moto3 team have previously triumphed at MotorLand Aragon, winning there with Miguel Oliveira in the 2015 season.

“At the Aragon Grand Prix I will do my best again. This time I feel much more prepared than at Misano, as everything happened so fast and unexpectedly there. Still we managed to do a good job. The objective for this race is to get into the points and we will have to try our hardest to do that. Also this is a circuit that I really like and, although we will probably experience high temperatures, we know we can do well.”
