Can Öncü all set to wrap up season at the Valencia Grand Prix

13/11/2019

The Red Bull KTM Ajo rider is ready for the 19th and final race of 2019 at the circuit where he became the youngest GP winner in history one year ago.

The Ricardo Tormo Circuit in Valencia once again hosts the last race of the Grand Prix season this coming weekend. The contest will mark the end of a year in which Can Öncü has risen to the challenge getting to know many new circuits and adapting to a category in which he has tested his skills against the most experienced riders in the class. The Turkish youngster now heads to the Valencia GP full of motivation, with the objective of finishing the 2019 with a good result.

In Malaysia, Can Öncü had a tough contest battling against the demands of Sepang’s high temperatures and humidity. Returning to Europe, the Red Bull KTM Ajo rookie revisits a circuit which holds cherished memories for him, one year on from his incredible win on his World Championship debut in 2018 as a wildcard. At just 15 years of age he took victory in the Moto3 season finale to become the youngest in history to win a Grand Prix race and the only Turkish rider ever to feature on the top step of the podium in the World Championship.

The last round of the 2019 season in the lightweight class will start at 11 am local time on Sunday, with the riders set to battle it out over a total of 23 laps. On previous visits, the Red Bull KTM Ajo Moto3 team have notched up four victories at the Ricardo Tormo Circuit: with Danny Kent in 2012, Jack Miller in 2014, Miguel Oliveira in 2015, Brad Binder in 2016 and Can Öncü in 2018.
