Good feeling for Fernandez and Toba at first Official Test of 2020
19/02/2020Red Bull KTM Ajo riders complete first day of work at Jerez-Angel Nieto Circuit.
Just over two weeks before the Moto3 World Championship kicks off at the Losail International Circuit, Red Bull KTM Ajo riders Raul Fernandez and Kaito Toba took part in the first day of the official test at Jerez. Last week, at the same circuit, both riders rode their 2020 machines for the first time this year, and on Wednesday they continued preparing the setup.
The Moto3 class had three 50-minute sessions in which to put in laps. Fernandez was able to ride faster than he did last week, and his personal best of 1:46.370 put him 12th on the combined timesheets. The Spaniard focused his 68 laps on setup work, and was satisfied with his pace.
Toba racked up 72 laps on board his KTM. The Japanese rider worked to continue improving his feeling with the bike, with attention given to perfecting his corner entry and braking. Kaito concluded 23rd overall, with a time of 1:46.934.
The Red Bull KTM Ajo Moto3 riders will carry on at the official test in Jerez for the next two days.

“I felt very good on the bike today. We have taken a big step forward in terms of our pace and setting a fast lap. Overall, I’m satisfied. We worked hard all day, and at the beginning the team found a setup that went well. We were fine-tuning that through Wednesday. We still have two days to go and there is a lot of work to do, but I feel very happy with how things are going.”

“This morning we struggled a bit, but I felt better every time we went out on track. I felt more comfortable than last week, since I was able to clock 1:46s when riding alone. We tried to improve braking and cornering and tomorrow we will continue working on that.”
